There are many grants and subsidies that are available for businesses, not for profits and government entities. And they are a bit complex. We’ve taken the liberty of doing some of the heavy lifting for you.
See below for a sample of grants and subsidies for Canadian communities.
1. Innovation
https://innovation.ised-isde.canada.ca/s/?language=en&lang=eng
This grant will help businesses determine what kinds of grants are out there to apply for. They ask things like: whether the business is incorporated, what province they are in, what industry etc. Then the site will generate what kinds of loans are available to that business.
2. Accelerate
https://www.mitacs.ca/en/programs/accelerate#business
This grant is for a person to access your services, but it is a matching program for businesses to gain access to academic expertise. I thought it might be interesting for you to look at.
3. Canada Job Grants
The Canada Job Grant (CJG) is a Canadian government funding program designed to reduce the costs of providing third-party skills training to new and existing employees. Launched in 2014 as a 6-year program, the Canada Job Grant allocates upwards of $194M annually to support the upskilling of employees so that they can perform new tasks and become more employable.
All training programs must be provided from an eligible training organization (no internal training programs) and should focus on improving business function, including (but not limited to):
- Lean Manufacturing Principles;
- Customer Service;
- Project Management;
- Financial Planning;
- Food Safety;
- Strategic Planning;
- General Management;
- Leadership;
- Software and Technology; and
- Sales and Marketing.
This site lists 8 provinces that can access these funds.
4. Asset Management Grants
https://fcm.ca/en/funding/mamp/asset-management-grants-municipalities
This grant is specific to municipalities seeking funding for asset management including organizational development. It also says that they are open to discuss the opportunities for projects that are not listed.
5. Municipalities Grants
https://canada.grantwatch.com/cat/50/municipalities-grants.html
This grant has numerous grants in a variety of areas: small business, municipalities, higher education, economic development to name a few. A person would have to subscribe for full access to view the grants at $199/year but they would have the ability to view the grant partially as a regular member. I am not sure if you needed me to comb through these to find out the specific training and development grants or if you are leaving the onus to your clients. Let me know, there is a lot here.
6. Business Recovery Grants
There are ‘business recovery grants’ coming online as we speak. Some of them are at a municipal level. Take a look in your community to see what is available.
This one is available in the City of Edmonton for example: https://www.edmonton.ca/programs_services/funding_grants/edmonton-economic-recovery-grant.aspx
